Peter Bjorn and John
Months and Months ago we went the the Empty Bottle to see PBJ and it was the best.
I love seeing shows at the Empty Bottle and they were playing small gigs to launch the tour of their latest album. It was such a good show. The band were really engaged and enjoying playing. Bjorn arumhped and Peter made eye contact with me at one point which made me uncomfortable. I felt like I had to be a really good fan.
Side note- If you got tickets to see a sold out show at a small venue and you decide to stand in front of the stage, why then would you talk to your friends through the whole show? I don’t condone the talking through the show thing if it’s in the middle or towards the back but I understand it more. Why go down right on front and chat? grumpy old lady

2 commentsJane Birkin - yes please
A couple of weeks ago Dan and I saw Jane Birkin perform a benefit concert for Japan.
It. was. magical. I went not expecting much, not a die hard fan or anything. Wow. She was so charming and lovely and sweet. The music was old Serge Gainsbourg songs recomposed to work with the backing band that was from Japan. Piano, violin, trumpet, drums. So So good.
Not surprisingly there were mostly French speakers there. Also not surprising, there was a lot of B.O.
During the concert if I leaned right I got B.O. if I leaned left I got petrouli. So I leaned left ( not away from you Dan just more pleasant air space)
She asked the crowd if she should speak French or English, the crowd demanded French. So we missed out on some of the banter.
I thought that during the beginning of the concert that the top button of her shirt came undone.
That added a level of tension for me because I thought her shirt was going to fly open. I did see her bra but maybe that was intentional.
I left the concert in a magic bubble.

I was mentioned in a review about Slurping Turtle in the Red Eye.

If you don’t want to read the whole review let me give the the most important part (kidding)
Brace for cuteness.
Cartoon logos can be cheesy, but I’m powerless in the presence of Tabo the turtle, created by local artist Kate O’Leary. You’ll find this half-shelled cutie on the restaurant’s façade and the drink menu, helping differentiate between types of sake. For the sparkling section, he’s taking a bubble bath, for the bold/sophisticated section, he’s donning a smoking jacket a la Hugh Hefner—hilarious.
I did get a chance to check out the restaurant and the food was amazing. The traditional ramen was spot on. After I ordered it I remembered I’m not a huge fan of traditional ramen. But it was really good and the tuna sashmi and potato curry croquettes left me thinking about them for the next week. It is loud in there and there was a wait but they did take cell phone numbers and called when your table was up. I did have a chuckle at the front door, which is designed in a way that made it difficult to figure out how to open it. I was there at a rare moment when no one was coming in or out. I was like, is this a joke? come on.
