Kate O'Leary's professional career as an artist began freelancing on such projects as a textbook illustration for McGraw Hill and sticker designs for Emerald Productions. Her career really took off when she began working for Cognitive Concepts, an educational software company.
Kate's talent for creating vibrant and whimsical characters combined with technology
produced educational Cd-Roms, marketing materials and GameGoo.com. This award
winning web site gained attention for the high quality graphics and top-notch
educational content. The combination of intriguing stories and characters with
scientifically proven learning techniques has produced easily applicable educational
materials.
While working producing games and illustrations Kate also freelanced as an illustrator.
She worked on the book Indian Two Feet and the Buffalo Calf a charming story
about a young American Indian befriending an injured buffalo calf. She used
her talent to portray the complex series of emotions Two Feet experiences while
learning a valuable life lesson of letting go.
Kate's caring & political awareness has led her to volunteer her talents
for a cause she firmly believes in, the cure for AIDS. She has made a stunning
painting for the 2002 AIDS Ride, which is used on a variety of Promotional materials.
Kate O'Leary graduated with a Bachelor of Fine art from Columbus College of
Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio in 1998. Shortly after Graduation she moved
to Chicago, where she currently resides. Her inspiration comes from traveling around
the US, her sojourn trip to visit her family roots in Ireland and daily life
in the Windy City.
